Biography

Ignacio Tomas obtained his PhD in Applied Mathematics at the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2015. After his doctorate, he pursued further training in hyperbolic systems of conservation laws at Texas A&M University under the guidance of Prof. Jean-Luc Guermond. He also spent some time at Sandia National Laboratories learning about plasma physics and models of electric charge transport under the mentorship of John N. Shadid. Since 2022, he has been an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics at TTU. Most of his current interests are related to computational shock-hydrodynamics, PDE models of electric-charge transport, equations of state, and, more recently, relativistic hydrodynamic models.
