The Department of Mathematics & Statistics is one of the largest departments at Texas Tech, home to 46 tenured and tenure-track faculty, 3 postdoctoral associates, and 15 instructors. Since 2015, an average of 150 graduate students enroll each year, with 100 supported full-time as teaching or research assistants. Our faculty and students pursue cutting-edge research across a wide range of mathematical and statistical disciplines, and we are deeply committed to your success, from your first course to your final defense.

PREP - Lubbock

The Lubbock Pre-Freshman Engineering Program (PREP), originally TexPREP-Lubbock, is a mathematics, science, and engineering summer enrichment program for students in grades 6 through 12. PREP prepares students for college study in STEM fields through challenging coursework, academic skill-building, and personal development. The Texas Tech University Department of Mathematics and Statistics has hosted the program in Lubbock since 1986, with seven-week summer sessions offered over a four-year sequence.
