The first section of the Math Placement Exam (MPE) measures preparedness for all Mathematics and Statistics courses. It covers the following topics:

    • Linear equations and inequalities in two variables
    • Systems of equations and inequalities
    • Polynomials
    • Factoring
    • Rational expressions and equations

    • Intervals
    • Equations and inequalities with absolute value
    • Compound inequalities
    • Expanded understanding of factoring
    • Expanded understanding of rational expressions
    • Roots and radicals

The second section of the MPE measures preparedness for MATH 1350 (Analytical Geometry) and MATH 1451 (Calculus I). It covers the following topics:

  • Pre-Calculus
    • Conic sections
    • Functions and graphs
    • Exponential and logarithm functions
    • Trigonometry
