Chairs Council

Charge

The Chairs Council provides opportunity for department chairs, school directors, and area coordinators to interact on a monthly basis with vice provosts on a variety of academic affairs matters that directly involve these unit leaders. While Vice Provosts set the monthly agendas, at least one-third of the scheduled meeting time will be reserved for items brought by the chairs.

Appointments

Membership on the Chairs Council is by virtue of holding the administrative positions of department chair, school director, or area coordinator. These administrators may appoint their associate chairs as designates or substitutes. Vice Provosts also serve on the Council by virtue of their positions.

Operating Policy

The Council will set its own procedures and schedule. Currently, the Chairs Council is scheduled to meet monthly, September through May, alternating meetings between the second Tuesday or Wednesday. Meeting agendas are distributed no later than the day prior to each meeting to all members and copied to the Provost, Deans, and Associate Deans. Meeting minutes are reported and reviewed at the next meeting and approved minutes are shared with the Provost, Deans, and Associate Deans.

Chairperson

The Senior Vice Provost serves as the chairperson of the Council.
