PSS graduate students Delaney Foster and Ubaldo Torres represented the department exceptionally well at the recent Southern Weed Science Society annual meeting.

Foster earned 1st Place in one of the Master's Student Oral Paper Sections with her research titled "Performance of isoxaflutole in HPPD tolerant cotton herbicide systems", and Torres earned 1st Place in one of the Master's Student Poster Sections with his research "Detecting 2,4-D injury using an unmanned aerial system".

The Southern Weed Science Society meetings - which primarily consist of poster and oral paper presentations - are designed to further the society's goal of bringing together a multi-disciplinary group of producers, researchers, educators, government agencies, and industry professionals interested in weed control throughout the region. For student participants, the contest provides an opportunity to develop their scientific communication skills and interact within a professional society.
