In February, three Plant and Soil Science faculty members were approved for promotions by the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents. The promotions will take effect in September, 2022.

Dr. Thayne Montague
Promotion from Associate Professor to Full Professor
Montague joined the Department of Plant and Soil Science in 1999 as an Assistant Professor of Horticulture, and currently holds a joint appointment with Texas A&M Agrilife Research. His teaching and research focuses on horticulture, plant physiology, plant/microclimate interactions, and drought tolerance of woody ornamental plants, grapevines, and other fruit crops.

Dr. Wenxuan Guo
Promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor with Tenure
Guo joined PSS in 2016 as an assistant professor, and currently holds a joint appointment with Texas A&M Agrilife Research. His research focuses on the leveraging of state-of-the-art technologies to improve agricultural production with limited resources via remote sensing and precision agriculture.

Dr. Lindsey Slaughter
Promotion from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor with Tenure
Slaughter joined the department in 2016 as an instructor, and teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses in soil microbial ecology and biochemistry. Her research specializes in soil ecology and how soil microbial communities interact with biota, soil, and environmental conditions to impact soil health and ecosystem function.
