For Bhattarai, the fellowship will support his doctoral research in Dr. Haydee Laza's Crop Physiology Lab. His focus is to develop a deeper understanding of the peanut and barrel clover's physiological adaptations to a water-limited environment.

Singh Chahal's research focuses on outlining the rare West Gulf Coastal Plain Forested Seep communities and populations of Bartonia paniculata ssp. texana in Texas. His aim is to enrich the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department database and help to initiate or modify biodiversity conservational practices.
