Officials with Texas Tech's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources are inviting friends from across campus and the region to the college's 62nd Annual Homecoming Breakfast at 8 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 14) in the Student Union Building's Red Raider Ballroom, located 15th Street and Akron Ave. on campus.
“A college tradition since 1961, Davis College's Homecoming Breakfast gives our friends, faculty and staff an opportunity to enjoy food, fellowship, student club and organization booths and more,” said Davis College Dean Clint Krehbiel.
The breakfast is free; however, to offset the cost program officials are encouraging a $20 per person donation. Guest parking for breakfast will be available in lots R05 and R09. Shuttles will be available.
Following the breakfast, Davis College is teaming with Capital Farm Credit to host a tailgate prior to the football game. Look for combined signage on the northwest corner of the Jones AT&T Stadium, parking lot C1, space 1049. The tailgate will start three hours prior to game time. (See www.texastech.com for game time). Admission is free, and food, drinks, and live entertainment will be provided.
Immediately following the breakfast, the Department of Landscape Architecture will be hosting building tours for the renovated Department of Landscape Architecture spaces in the Agricultural Pavilion and Davis College Annex, located on the corner of 15th and Detroit.
Davis College officials note that there will be several activities on tap the day before the breakfast.
On Friday (Oct. 13) the Department of Animal & Food Sciences is hosting their annual ‘Hall of Fame & Meat Science Awards' starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Animal and Food Sciences Atrium and Room 102. Honorees will include the 2023 Hall of Fame Award recipients. In addition, the Landscape Architecture Class of 1983 is hosting a 40th class reunion. Multiple activities are planned. Meanwhile, the Texas Tech Chapter of The Wildlife Society is hosting their 9th annual Game Dinner at the Texas Tech Dairy Barn, starting at 6:30 p.m. Alumni, families, and friends of the Department of Natural Resources Management are welcome. Attendees will have the chance to win door prizes, sample game dishes, and visit with students and faculty. Admission is free with a prepared dish.
Otherwise, a $10 donation is encouraged to help The Texas Tech Chapter of The Wildlife Society fundraise for professional development events, travel, the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society Annual Meeting, and hands-on experiences within the field.
