Background

Dr. López-Arredondo is a Biochemical Engineer with a PhD specialized in Plant Biotechnology by the National Laboratory of Genomics for Biodiversity (Langebio-Cinvestav) in Mexico. Dr. López-Arredondo was the Scientific Director of the company StelaGenomics Inc from 2012 to 2018 and joined IGCAST and the Texas Tech University Plant and Soil Science Department in October, 2018.

Research Interests

My current research interests include the genetic improvement of crops and the development of new agricultural technologies by taking advantage of the genetic diversity in microalgae, using high-throughput screening, genetic engineering, genome mining and bioinformatic approaches. Current projects include research on new compounds with herbicidal and nematicidal effect, and the study of regulatory networks on lipid biosynthesis.
