Thank you for your interest! This research project has concluded, and the horticulture therapy kits are no longer being offered for sale. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with Dr. Alicia Thomas.
Education and Resilience
Deployment July 2023!
For our succulent propagation kit, we will focus on the asexual propagation of a very common indoor plant, Snake Plant (Sansevieria trifasciata). Asexual propagation is taking a part (leaves, stems, or roots) of a stock plant and growing it into an identical replication of that stock plant. With this we can visually see the resilience of plants, as it is abrubtly cut off from the stock plant and forced to grow in another location. You will learn to propagate snake plant leaf cuttings in soil/water and learn the method of division propagation of snake plant rhizomes.
With attention and care, your snake plant cuttings will grow to become established mature snake plants. You can choose to give these away to your friends and family or keep them all to yourself, basking in your snake plant forest. Asexual Propagation is the gift that keeps on giving!
Bonus! We have also included another common indoor plant called the Mother of Thousands (Bryophyllum daigremontianum) with the succulent propagation kit. Participants will get the chance to learn how to propagate Mother of Thousands from the tiny plantlets that form on the margins of its leaves.
