2019-2020 Awardees for Research:

• Jeremy Marston, Ph.D.
  • Ultra-high-speed imaging of fluid dynamics phenomena
  • Multiphase flows; wicking in powders and porous media
  • Waterless cleaning technologies for solar technologies
  • Water and oil encapsulations using hydrophobic and oleophobic particulates

• Eric E Rasmussen, Ph.D.
  Dr. Rasmussen's research focuses on children and media. He is specifically interested in parental mediation and why/how parent-child conversations about the media influence children at different developmental stages in various ways. Dr. Rasmussen has authored or co-authored articles that have appeared in some of the top academic journals in the fields of communication and child development, such as Journal of Communication, Human Communication Research, Journal of Children and Media, Media Psychology, Child Development, and Developmental Psychology, among others. His research has also been presented at conferences for the Society for Research in Child Development, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, International Communication Association, and International Public Relations Research Conference.
• Kristi Gaines, Ph.D., IIDA, IDEC
  Kristi Gaines is the Associate Dean of the Graduate School and Associate Professor in the Department of Design at Texas Tech University. She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Design with collaterals in Architecture and Education and has a combined 20 years of professional interior design and teaching experience. She has served in several national and regional leadership positions for professional organizations including the Interior Design Educator's Council and the International Interior Design Association. Dr. Gaines is the recipient of several teaching, research and service awards and is a graduate of the inaugural class of the President's Leadership Institute at Texas Tech.

Each winner receives a commemorative medallion and a $5,000 award. The Chancellor's Council raises funds for student scholarships and recruitment, faculty awards and support, and other programs of excellence.
