Dr. Gerad Troutman, MD, MBA is a graduate of TTUHSC and is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services. He leads prehospital care for Lubbock, Amarillo, and several other west Texas communities and also teaches emergency medicine resident physicians at University Medical Center. Dr Troutman was involved in a small family business venture since before he could drive. This instilled his business interest at a young age. He obtained his MBA after becoming a physician and along with three other physicians, developed the first freestanding emergency centers in Amarillo. He operated the facilities for three years as CEO, and was awarded best new business and the top 20 under 40, before selling to venture capitalists and exiting the marketplace. Dr Troutman has particular interests in innovative ways to better provide healthcare, especially in the out of hospital acute care setting. He has worked with other global partners on strategies to solve the iron triangle of healthcare: reducing cost, maintaining quality, and increasing access.
