Note from the Training Director
Dear Intern Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in the doctoral internship at the Texas Tech University Student Counseling Center. We are committed to the development of emerging professionals in psychology and are dedicated to making the intern training year a valuable and unforgettable experience for our interns. We really enjoy and value training, and all members of the professional staff are a part of intern training.
We offer several training rotations such as trauma (incl. sexual trauma), EMDR, eating disorders, couples therapy, creative therapy interventions, outreach, religion and spirituality, addiction, as well as a more intensive supervision rotation. Furthermore, group therapy is also part of our intern training. We have general process groups, and groups for students living with mood disorders, grief, social anxiety, family trauma, and a group exclusively for graduate students, among others.
Please take some time to view the pictures of our center as we are fortunate to have exceptional facilities. Some may have questions about our west Texas location. Lubbock has a lot to offer such as a unique variety of restaurants, great live music, high quality performances, a low cost of living, and easy commutes. The campus is beautiful and hosts many different events such as plays, concerts, cultural events, and sports. There are also many exciting day trip locations including two nearby canyons that both offer hiking and horseback riding. If you have any questions or concerns as you navigate the application and interview process, please do not hesitate to contact me
Sincerely,
Associate Director of Training
