About Me

Linda Dascanio is a visiting professor working with the School of Veterinary Medicine's professional skills program. Linda grew up on her family's dairy farm in the Finger Lakes region of New York where she took an active part in the dairy and worked throughout high school. Linda served as the dairy princess for her county in the promotion of dairy farms and milk products and continues to have immediate family in the dairy industry. Linda has been a licensed veterinary technician (nurse) for over 30 years, working in both private practice and in 5 veterinary teaching hospitals. She has worked in all aspects of veterinary medicine including diagnostic imaging, surgery, dentistry, community practice, and emergency medicine. Through all of these experiences she has developed a love for the student and a passion for education and student wellbeing.

Instruction

Linda's current primary focus is to train veterinary students in professional skills, primarily working to improve their communication skills with clients and other team members. She has worked in the communications field for over 8 years, between two previous institutions, working with some of the leaders in this field to train hundreds of veterinary students.

Research

Her research interest is in area of education and educational technologies.

Service

In the past she has been active in student organizations helping with activities ranging from spay/neuter days to helping with fun runs for scholarship fundraising and she is looking forward to working with the students of Texas and New Mexico.
