About Me

Dr. Tasha Likavec grew up in a small town of northern Michigan and is a distinguished alumnus of Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Her journey in veterinary medicine started with an internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in New Jersey, followed by a comprehensive Large Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Texas A&M University. Tasha further specialized in Equine Medicine through a fellowship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, Kentucky. Bringing years of specialty experience in private practice and academia, she now enriches the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine community with her practical knowledge and skills.

Instruction

Tasha is committed to preparing the next generation of veterinarians. Her teaching centers around equipping students with advanced skills in equine internal medicine and enhancing their prowess in professional communication.

Research

Tasha's research interests are in equine neonatal medicine, risk factors for laminitis, and gastrointestinal diseases. Beyond these clinical areas, she is also involved in pedagogical research, focusing on innovative teaching methodologies aimed at fostering sustainability and longevity in the equine veterinary profession.

Service

Tasha is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary internal Medicine and has served on the General Exam Item Review Committee. She is also an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She will provide internal medicine support services to local and remote equine practices.
