About Me

He grew up in rural Australia and was introduced to the veterinary profession while working with his veterinarian father on the family livestock operation which housed a pioneering embryo transfer center. After completing his veterinary degree he traveled to the US which led to his PhD is in Epidemiology from Colorado State University. He moved to the Panhandle to work at WTAMU in 2002 and then moved Texas Tech in 2010. Prior to his role in the School, he was a Professor in Tech’s Department of Animal and Food Sciences.

Instruction

Guy’s focus is on aspects of epidemiology, veterinarian’s role in public health, and One Health – the concept that animal, human and ecosystem health are interconnected.

Research

Antimicrobial use and resistance in bacterial of livestock populations, and providing more insights into the ecology of zoonotic bacteria in animals.

Service

Guy has served on numerous regional, national and international committees and working groups. He is a proud member of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association, Academy of Veterinary Consultants, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
