The Robert C. and Donna J. Albin Scholarship Endowment was established in 2003 by Robert and Donna Albin for the purpose of providing scholarships to students majoring in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences.

Dr. Robert C. Albin received his bachelor's and master's degrees in 1961 and 1962 from Texas Tech University. He later received his doctoral degree from the University of Nebraska in 1965. Dr. Albin was a member of the Texas Tech faculty in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences from 1967 to 2008. He held titles ranging from Assistant and Associate Professor, Associate Dean, Interim Dean and Professor.

Dr. Albin was named Outstanding Teacher in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources in 1973 and fall semester 1974 and also received several Teacher of the Month Awards.  He was named Outstanding Educator in America in 1972 and received an Outstanding Young Men of America Awards in 1973. He was the recipient of an AMOCO Distinguished teaching Award in 1974 and received numerous research grants from sponsors.

Dr. Albin is a member of the American Society of Animal Science; Certified Animal Scientist in the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientist, Phi Kappa Phi, Gamma Sigma Delta, Alpha Zeta, Sigma Xi, and Council for Agricultural Science and Technology. He is also the founding member for the Plains Nutritional Council.

Dr. Albin's wife, Donna, passed away in September 2023.
