The Jack and Twila Aufill Scholarship was established by Twila Aufill in 1999. The
scholarship is awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who are rodeo team members
who are attending Texas Tech University. The main contributors to the scholarship
are friends and family of Jack and Twila and the Lubbock-Avalanche Journal- Twila's
employer for almost fifty years.
Jack Aufill attended Texas Tech University and studied animal production. Upon finishing
his time in school, he stayed in Lubbock where he began a horse auctioning business,
known as Jack Aufill Sales. He continued this operation for many years and it was
even continued by Twila and their son after his death in 1999. Together, Jack and
Twila had three sons, Ben Aufill, Lance Folsom and Jett Folsom, all of Lubbock; two
daughters, Jennifer Fontenot of Buffalo Gap and Camille Aufill of Fort Worth; and
five grandchildren.
