The Martha Jane Barber Memorial Scholarship Endowment was established in 2008 by David
E. Barber to provide scholarship awarded to students maintaining a minimum 2.5 GPA
who are majoring in Food Science. Preference is given to students who are Saddle Tramps
and/or students who are members of the Alpha Phi Sorority.
Martha Jane Barber graduated from Texas Tech University in 1965 with a degree in Mathematics.
Her husband, David, graduated from Texas Tech University the same year with a degree
in Dairy Management. They had three children: Barton, Phillip, and Carol. Martha passed
away in 2007 after fighting a long battle with cancer. David established this scholarship
in her memory. He was a member of Saddle Tramps and Martha was a member of the Alpha
Phi Sorority during their time at Texas Tech.
