Kirk Endowed Ag Scholarship

The R.B. and Kate Kirk Endowment was established in 1999 by the Vernon L. and Elizabeth K. Haggerton Trust when Mr. & Mrs. Haggerton willed their 1,022-acre ranch to the Texas Tech Foundation. Scholarships are awarded in the name of the Kirk Endowed Ag Scholarship to students in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.

Emily Elizabeth Kirk Haggerton was born March 27, 1913, in View. She married Vernon Luther Haggerton on July 2, 1932, in Clovis, N.M. He died Jan. 15, 1994. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene. She moved to Lubbock from Kerrville in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a benefactor member of the Panhandle Plains Historical Society in Canyon. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, West Texas Museum Association, Jackson County Historical Society in Newport, Ark., and Lubbock Knife and Fork Club. She was also a former member of the Texas Tech University President's Council.
