CASNR's Mindy Brashears is part of an innovative research team focusing on a new food-purifying technology
known as MicroZap. Key to MicroZap's ground-breaking process is use of microwave technology
to purify food and water. MicroZap's technology will heat, but not directly damage
the DNA of a biological substance. Brashears is highlighted in this month's Texas Monthly (Every Day, I am a Red Raider; Dec. 2013; pg. 191). She believes the technology can have a huge impact on food security, which could
mean providing the world with a safe, abundant food and water supply.
