GALLERY: Department of Landscape Architecture WreckShop portfolio review
By: Norman Martin
More than two dozen landscape architecture firms, some coming from as far away as Houston and Denver, were on the Texas Tech University campus last week (Oct. 3-5) to take part in Tech's Department of Landscape Architecture WreckShop 2019. The workshop was led by the student chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
The three-day program encompassed a series of networking, professional development and collaborative opportunities. One featured part of the program was a student portfolio review by some of the 70 professionals on hand for the event at Tech's Agricultural Pavilion.
Tech's Department of Landscape Architecture is housed in the university's College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. The latest official enrollment numbers released last week indicate the department is home to 84 undergraduate students and four graduate students. The program specializes in semi-arid landscapes, while engaging design and planning issues critical to a sustainable, resilient, adaptable earth and its growing urban populations. It's professional B.L.A. and M.L.A. degrees are accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board.
