The area around Texas Tech University's historic dairy barn is set for a facelift in the coming year, as the university puts a major campus beautification project in gear. A portion of the $2.5 million project includes a mixture of trees and walkways for the area between the dairy barn and the main library building. Along with planting new trees, the project will also include new landscaping and will renovate the irrigation system, lighting and walkways. Planting is expected wrap-up by the middle of March.
The Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow Scholarship Endowment was established by the former members of Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow in 2008. The scholarship is awarded to students currently active in the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow organization.
The Agricultural Education and Communications Rushing Family Foundation Scholarship was established by the Rushing Family Foundation in 2004. The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications.
The Waylon and Ruth Carroll Scholarship endowment was established by Waylon and Ruth Carroll in 2001. The scholarship is awarded to students of all classifications majoring in Agricultural Education and Communications or Agricultural and Applied Economics.
The Collegiate 4-H Scholarship was established by friends of the Collegiate 4-H in 1998. The scholarship is awarded to entering freshman majoring in any department within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
The Marvin J. and Gladys Dvoracek Endowed Scholarship was established by former students and friends of Marvin Dvoracek in 1994. The scholarship is awarded to sophomores and juniors who are majoring in any department of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources or Environment or Civil Engineering. Scholarship will be alternated between Colleges unless recipient is renewing.
The Ellis W. Earle Endowed Scholarship was established by Ellis W. Earle in 1997. The scholarship is awarded to students majoring in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources with preference to students in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications from Northeast Texas.
The O. A. "Cotton" Fanning Memorial Fund was established by family and friends of "Cotton" Fanning in memory of "Cotton" Fanning in 1992. O.A. "Cotton" Fanning exemplified the cooperative spirit and can-do attitude of the people he served. During his life "Cotton," as he was known by countless friends and colleagues, played a key role in the development and direction of the U.S. cotton industry. In honor of Fanning's achievements, and tireless work to communicate on behalf of agriculture, his friends and colleagues have joined together to form the O.A. "Cotton" Fanning Memorial Fund to support the Agricultural Communications program at Texas Tech University. The scholarship is awarded to students of all classifications who are majoring in Agricultural Communications.
The Shirley and Mildred Garrison Scholarship in AECM was established by Shirley Garrison in 2006. The scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen, transfer students and students currently enrolled in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communications who graduated from a high school in the Amarillo area.
