Edward E. WHitacre Jr. College of Engineering Global Experiences
For Undergraduates

Message From Dean Faller

Welcome to your journey into Engineering. You will learn many fundamentals and applications to solve problems and make things. During this journey we strongly encourage you to participate in a global experience. It's important students know their limitations and take them into account but don't let them dominate you. Travel and experiencing new cultures helps you learn that. Global Experiences in WCOE can be achieved by participating in available programs for study, internship, research, or service abroad. Imagine you get a job in a company with global operations after you graduate, and your boss has an assignment for you overseas at short notice. We think it’s better to be prepared by having an experience abroad during your undergraduate studies. After all, engineers are asked to respond to different questions in different places, but the tools of engineering are the same. Students need to learn to engage with people and problems that are local, adjusting how they use their tools. WCOE alumni, supporters, donors, and employers believe strongly in this initiative. They have given generously to provide scholarships specifically for those who take part in global experience programs.
