FAQ's

I'm interested. What do I do next?

  1. Browse the programs at https://www.depts.ttu.edu/international/studyabroad/students/apply/programs/ to get a general idea of what is important to you.
  2. Start an “advising application” by clicking “TTU Login” here https://www.depts.ttu.edu/international/studyabroad/ or on any program page.
  3. Set up an appointment with the correct WCOE Program Manager via Raider Success Hub to start one on one advising.

I'm interested, but not that sure. Can I talk to someone else?

Yes! Stop by Holden Hall 203 to speak with an Engineering Diplomat. These are students who have gone on a Global Experience and are now peer advisors.

Do I have to study engineering while abroad?

No. You can take any classes you are eligible for! You can even do internships related to other career paths if you want.

What are the deadlines to apply for the term I want to go?

Deadlines are set by TTU Study Abroad and up to date information can be found here: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/international/studyabroad/students/apply/deadlines.php

Can I afford a global experience?

There is much more financial aid out there than you may expect! Schedule an appointment with a Program Manager to talk about your options, including what types of aid may be available for you.

How does financial aid work?

Visit https://www.depts.ttu.edu/international/studyabroad/ and click “Financial Resources.” Select the sections that are applicable to you.

Are there any scholarships specific to engineering students?

Yes! Be sure to fill out the TTU Continuing Students Scholarship Application at: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/scholarships/currentStudentsScholarships.php

Don't miss the application deadline set by the university as no late applications can be accepted.

What if my parents have questions?

First direct them to https://www.depts.ttu.edu/international/studyabroad/ and the “Parents & Loved Ones” links. If they still have questions, check that you have given them FERPA permissions and then they can contact the Program Managers for more information.

Am I required to go?

WCOE strongly recommends that all students who are able take advantage of the opportunity to go on a Global Experience! Let us help you find something that fits your needs.

What if I don't have a passport?

There are various locations across Lubbock where you can apply for a passport, including on campus. Visit https://www.depts.ttu.edu/international/intlopr/passport.php for more information.
