• There are a variety of ways that labs will be handled, though most will include a synchronous/asynchronous video demonstration. Some of the WCOE Departments have been video recording lab experiments using graduate student. This may not have the same effect as a hands-on experience; however, we believe it will convey the necessary information. Also, some departments are developing virtual labs that will mimic the hands-on lab. These were to be used as trainers (like pilot flight trainers) prior to going into a lab, yet, they can be repurposed for situation like this.

• This will not impact ABET accreditation per the ABET guidance at https://www.abet.org/accreditation/covid-19-update/
• "ABET understands the need for programs to temporarily modify program delivery methods in order to safeguard their communities during the current health crisis caused by COVID-19. It is not necessary to report any short term (current or summer semester) changes to program delivery or content to us. Should the changes or modifications to the program become permanent, please refer to the ABET Accreditation Policy and Procedure Manual (Section I.F.1.b.(2)) to formally notify us of any changes during the period of accreditation."

• Please contact your advisor via email if you have questions. During this time, we ask for your patience in waiting for a response.

• Students with questions about dropping or withdrawing because of the COVID-19 pandemic should discuss concerns with their academic advisors. Dropping a course and withdrawing from the university can carry significant financial and academic consequences.
• Per state statute, Texas Tech has the authority to extend the deadline to drop a course. That deadline has been extended to May 1, and students who drop a course because of issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic will not be penalized for doing so (i.e., the drop will not count against statutory student drop limits).
• The deadline to withdraw from the university as a result of the pandemic has been extended to May 1. Students considering a withdrawal should first consult with their academic advisors and then consult with Student Business Services and Financial Aid. Following such consultations, students considering withdrawal should express that interest to their academic deans' offices.

• In the coming weeks we are all going to venture into the unknown of offering our courses online, something most of us have zero experience with. It is important that all of us strive to do as much as we can to figure out for ourselves what works for us. The process of offering courses and exams online is something that we must each decide how to do for ourselves so that we are comfortable with the process when it really matters.
