Position Description | Employees in this classification are responsible for performing technical duties in the care of research animals in addition to day-to-day maintenance of assigned animals. Employees in this classification have no delegated supervisory responsibilities but may aid the supervisor in training new employees. Work consists of both direct and indirect contact with animals. Conditions may become stressful because of animal odors. Possible exposure to zoonotic diseases, animals exposed to toxic materials, radioactive materials, bites, lacerations, etc. Conditions may become hazardous if animals become ill or are being treated with known toxic substances (i.e., carcinogens, microbial substances. etc). Weekend and holiday assignments on a rotational basis are expected. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees. |
