Position Description | Plans and directs the overall development operation of two or more colleges or schools or a functional area that supports campuswide development initiatives with institutional oversight and provides leadership for staff members. Responsibilities include cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individual, foundation, and corporate support for TTU; adherence to the prospect management system; and plans, coordinates and evaluates development goals. Responsible for fiscal management of development goals. Under executive direction, performs highly varied administrative duties involving the use of independent judgment and professional skills. |
Essential Job Functions | 1.Lead, manage, and supervise development efforts across an assigned team of colleges, schools, and units that helps the University meet its philanthropic goals.2.Oversee the planning, coordination, and evaluation of development strategies, goals, and annual plans to maximize organizational growth.3.Develop and lead a high-performing development team by providing mentorship, training, and performance management.4.Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate development staff who are responsible for soliciting major gifts on behalf of Texas Tech University and the TTU Office of Advancement.5.Collaborate with senior leadership to define institutional priorities and align development strategies with a focus on cross-campus alignment, coordination, and implementation.6.Qualify, manage, and build meaningful relationships with a portfolio of 50-100 donors with high giving capacities.7.Meet goals for key metrics such as substantial contacts, visits, portfolio penetration, and solicitations as established each fiscal year in annual plans.8.Adhere to procedures and best practices regarding documenting donor interactions, annual giving, donor engagement and stewardship, alumni relations, events, gift processing, and utilizing the donor alumni database.9.Represent Texas Tech University and the TTU Office of Advancement at university, alumni, and community events in a professional manner.10.Maintain a collaborative culture and serve as a great colleague within the TTU Office of Advancement, with TTUS Institutional Advancement, and across the university in an effort to strengthen the philanthropic culture at TTU. |
Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities | Proven track record of raising major gifts and managing a donor portfolio. Demonstrated success in securing philanthropic gifts greater than $1M. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, writing, and presentation skills. Exceptional initiative and ability to manage a team. Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.Eight years of development experience in a higher education setting. Experience in setting and achieving philanthropic goals at the personal and organizational level. |
