Performs legal work involving representation and advice on legal matters related to nonprofit entities affiliated with the Texas Tech University System, or one or more of its component institutions.

Maintain knowledge and expertise on state registrations and annual reporting requirements related to nonprofits and related entities, and charitable solicitations. Maintain knowledge and expertise on federal income taxation of tax-exempt organizations. Participate in local, state and national industry related associations to maintain and increase knowledge of industry practices and concerns. Stay current on laws and regulations affecting charitable giving, the Texas Tech University System, and nonprofit organizations affiliated with the System and its component institutions. Assist Foundation Counsel and Foundation Chief Executive Officer on matters relating to corporate governance and communication with Foundation board members. Coordinate with Foundation Council and IA Board Relations for the preparation and presentation of items for inclusion on Texas Tech Foundation Board of Directors or Texas Tech University System Board of Regents meetings. Assist and support Foundation Counsel in legal research relating to planned to give and gifts of complex assets, provide appropriate support to the System development staff on every day matters relating to gifts to the Texas Tech University System and its component institutions. Assist Foundation Counsel, IA Financial Services, and third-party vendor with management of all oil and gas properties owned by the Texas Tech University System, or one of its component institutions, and/or the Texas Tech Foundation, Inc. Maintain and appropriately update gift forms for Texas Tech University System, component institutions and nonprofit organizations. Manage the review process and approval of gift agreements for System, component institutions and affiliated nonprofit organizations. Coordinate with appropriate departments within the System and Component Institutions for the maintenance, operation, and programming of 3 Rivers Ranch. Work with Procurement Services to execute agreements for external uses of the Ranch. Monitor the daily management and operations of the facilities within the Ranch. This position requires a Law Degree (JD or LLB) from an accredited Law School. Must be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas and currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. Minimum 3 years of legal experience.

Expertise in tax, higher education, oil and gas, and charitable giving law is highly preferred.
