Position Description
As a social content creator in Marketing & Communications, you will develop original concept-driven, and visually engaging social media content that strengthens Texas Tech's brand and supports strategic institutional goals. You will work be responsible for generating and executing creative and compelling ideas from concept through production to delivery. This role requires high-level creative discretion, the ability to independently direct shoots and a strong editorial point of view. You will collaborate with university stakeholders while maintaining substantial control over content strategy and the final deliverable. Success in this role will be measured by content engagement rates, audience growth and collaboration across teams. About the department and/or college. Essential Job Functions
Every day, you will: Plan, write, film and edit original, highly engaging social media content for a variety of platforms, with a strong emphasis on short-form video and Stories/Reels. This includes identifying creative approaches and styles, with minimal oversight. Create highly engaging social media content for a variety of platforms, with a strong emphasis on short-form video and Stories/Reels. (70%) Stay ahead of Lead ideation sessions and originate social media concepts that reflect evolving trends and best practices to keep content fresh and relevant. (20%) Mentor and Collaborate with student content creators, providing creative directions to social media teams to generate engaging content for their assigned areas while maintaining brand standards across decentralized accounts. (10%)
Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively with both external and internal audiences. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Bachelor's degree in a related field.  Two to four years of experience in digital content creation. Demonstrated proficiency with social media platforms. Basic photography and videography skills, including experience with editing software.

To thrive in this role, you should have: Experience working with various content in higher education. Strong communication skills including grammar, spelling and punctuation.    Knowledge of content marketing trends and emerging technologies. Familiarity with social media analytics and reporting tools. Comfort appearing on camera or coaching others to appear in video content. High-level attention to detail and ability to quickly learn new systems. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a high-functioning team. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Respectful, cooperative and effective in having a good relationship with a diverse group of employees and customers. Expresses ideas/information in a complete, clear, concise, organized, and timely manner.
