Dietetic Internship Application & Requirements

DICAS Application Process:
- Texas Tech University Dietetic Internship participates in the Dietetic Internship Centralized Application System (DICAS). The program may be accessed at DICAS, e-mail DICASinfo@DICAS.org. The fee to use DICAS is $50 for the first application submitted and $25 for each additional application.
- When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an e-mail address) for each reference. This will trigger an e-mail message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online. Students submitting more than one application can use the same individuals as references for each application.
- There is only one application in DICAS for Texas Tech University Dietetic Internship. You will rank sites in order of preference in the questions section of DICAS.
- Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal
statement.
- Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:

- Official transcripts from all colleges & universities should be sent throught the parchment connection in DICAS.
- Personal Interviews will be scheduled within a month of receiving your application.
DI Selection Process
The selection committee consisting of faculty and preceptors of the internship, will use a holistic approach when reviewing the following criteria that is available on the DICAS:
- GPA (Grade Point Average), Overall GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
- Work and Volunteer Experiences
- Three References (at least two from faculty in the major area of study)
- Personal statement
- Personal Video
- The Personal Video consists of three questions. It should be no longer than three
minutes in length. Applicants do not have to read the question word-for-word but should
paraphrase the question before answering. Answer the questions in the order provided
below:
- Begin with a brief introduction of yourself at the beginning of the interview. Include your name and school affiliation.
- What are the characteristics of the TTU Dietetic Internship that led you to apply to our sites and why do you think you are a good fit for our dietetic internship?
- Identify an experience that you consider a defining moment in developing you into who you are today.
- You can upload your video to YouTube and obtain a link to include at the bottom of your personal statement. You must make this unlisted.
- The Personal Video consists of three questions. It should be no longer than three
minutes in length. Applicants do not have to read the question word-for-word but should
paraphrase the question before answering. Answer the questions in the order provided
below:
- Virtual Interview
- DI Director will conduct a virtual interview via TEAMS to be no longer than 30 minutes.
Note: Currently, the Dietetic Internship Program does not grant credit for prior learning experiences.
Application to TTU Graduate School
To be admitted to the Dietetic Internship/Master's Degree Program, all applicants must have:
- A verification statement indicating successful completion of all the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) academic requirements (accredited or approved by (ACEND) or Declaration of Intent to Complete DPD (obtain from your DPD Director). If a DPD verification statement is more than five years old, the student will need to meet current DPD/DI requirements.
- Completed a baccalaureate degree with a preferred overall grade point average of 3.0 or greater.
- Foreign students must submit TOFEL scores. All scores must be within 5 years of the time of application.
Submit your graduate application according to the deadlines listed on the Graduate School website. You will need 2 letters of recommendation for graduate school. You may use the same letters used for your Dietetic Internship Application.
After Selection to TTU Dietetic Internship
- Submit the online Graduate School application if you have not already done so. Complete scholarship application at the same time. Use the specific steps and instructions that will be sent to you after acceptiance into the internship.
- Pay non-refundable application fee of $75, payable to TTU Graduate School
- Submit ALL official college transcripts and application fee(s) as indicated on the graduate school applications.
