PREP (TexPREP) is open to students finishing 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in the South Plains region who are strong academic performers and curious about careers in engineering, mathematics, and science. Motivated students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

When is PREP held?

PREP runs for approximately six and a half weeks each summer during June and July.

2026 Program Dates:
May 26 – July 10

Where is PREP held?

All classes and program activities take place on the Texas Tech University campus in Lubbock, using university classrooms and laboratories. (Field trips are held off campus.)

How much does it cost to attend PREP?

PREP is completely free.

The program is funded through grants, making it accessible to students from all backgrounds. Students are responsible for transportation and lunch.
