Tracking Attendance as an Instructor of Record for Core / Multicultural Courses

Important Reminder: Tracking Attendance as an Instructor of Record for Core/Multicultural Courses

As the Fall 2024 semester quickly approaches, we want to inform you that you are listed as an Instructor of Record (IOR) for a Core or Multicultural course. This role is crucial in shaping the academic journey of our students, and we appreciate your dedication to their success.

The Office of Planning & Assessment (OPA) and Academic Innovation & Student Success would like to request your consideration of tracking attendance in your course(s) and remind you of the assessment process.

Attendance Tracking

Research shows, as referenced in the attached document, that one of the most effective ways to support students, especially those at risk, is by monitoring attendance. The university’s Strategic Enrollment Plan Success Strategy emphasized early identification of at-risk students and delivering tailored interventions to help them overcome obstacles and achieve academic success.

As part of this strategy, we request your help in tracking and reporting attendance through either Blackboard or Banner Attendance, which both integrate with Raider Success Hub, to ensure timely interventions by success specialists. While we strongly encourage attendance tracking, you retain the flexibility to decide how it impacts grading.

Course Assessment

As an IoR, you are responsible for assessing the students in your course using a standardized rubric developed by the Core and Multicultural Curriculum Committee. Later in the semester, you will receive a Qualtrics link from OPA to submit your course assessment results. In the meantime, please review the rubrics and objectives on the Core and Multicultural Curriculum website to view the rubrics or if you are unsure of the objective(s) on which your course should report.

On behalf of the Core and Multicultural Curriculum Committee, we would like to thank you for your participation in TTU's Core and Multicultural Curriculum Assessment and Reporting. All data gathered will be used not only for SACSCOC and THECB compliance, but also to inform continued development of best practices in teaching and learning across our Core and Multicultural Curriculum.

Thank you,
