National Ranching Heritage Center Reception

Exterior of the Lubbock National Ranching Heritage CenterThe conference will officially open at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 2, with a welcome celebration at the National Ranching Heritage Center. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served throughout the reception.

Before and during the event, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the museum and grounds. According to the Center's website, "The historic structures at the NRHC have been chronologically arranged to exhibit the evolution of ranch life from the late 1700s through the mid-1900s. All the structures but one were relocated, restored, and furnished for period correctness. A mile-and-a-half of paved pathways provides wheelchair and stroller access to each structure. Posted signs give a history of the structures..."

6666 BarnThe museum features images and artifacts from various ranches and ranchers from Texas, as well as ranching's relationship with the oil industry in Texas. The website says, one exhibit "features props, scripts, and other items used in the production of the hit series 1883. "

 

 

Transportation

On Thursday, a city bus will run a continuous loop approximately every 15 minutes from 6:00 p.m. to the end of the reception between the Overton Hotel and the National Ranching Heritage Center. This service is free of charge to conference attendees. See the image below to know where to catch the bus at the Overton.
