National Ranching Heritage Center Reception
The conference will officially open at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 2, with a welcome
celebration at the National Ranching Heritage Center. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served throughout the reception.
Before and during the event, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the museum and grounds. According to the Center's website, "The historic structures at the NRHC have been chronologically arranged to exhibit the evolution of ranch life from the late 1700s through the mid-1900s. All the structures but one were relocated, restored, and furnished for period correctness. A mile-and-a-half of paved pathways provides wheelchair and stroller access to each structure. Posted signs give a history of the structures..."
The museum features images and artifacts from various ranches and ranchers from Texas,
as well as ranching's relationship with the oil industry in Texas. The website says,
one exhibit "features props, scripts, and other items used in the production of the
hit series 1883. "
