Pre-Conference Excursions

Complimentary Campus Excursions

For those of you arriving Thursday before the SCWCA opening reception at the National Ranching Heritage Center, we will have several complimentary pre-conference excursions available highlighting the unique features of Texas Tech University. All excursions will leave from Weeks Hall (see map below).

Please note: The Makerspace and Letterpress tours will include an approximately 10-minute walk from Weeks Hall to arrive at the respective destinations. Please email SCWCA co-chairs Dr. Kristin Messuri or Dr. Jennifer Marciniak for any accommodation arrangements.

Public Art Collection (ArTTrek and Art Cart)

The TTU Art Cart offers 60-minute riding tours exploring Texas Tech University's public art collection

Two time slots are available, with tours beginning at 1:45pm and 2:45pm.

Please note: Downloading the ArTTrek app will enhance the tour experience, and also allow independent exploration of our extensive public art collection across TTU campuses before or after the tour.

Library Makerspace

Participants will receive a tour of the Texas Tech Libraries Makerspace and have an opportunity to create an etched wood project with Glowforge.

Two time slots are available, with tours leaving from Weeks Hall at 1:45pm and 2:45pm. 

Letterpress Studio 

Participants will learn more about the history of the book and have the opportunity to use a 19th-century letterpress.

One time slot is available, leaving Weeks Hall at 3:45pm
