About Me

Luis Morales Luna is a Assistant Professor of General Veterinary Practice. He grew up working at his family's coffee farm working with their dairy cattle in Guatemala; his passion for veterinary medicine began at a young age when he noticed he had some natural abilities to work with animals. After graduating from vet school, he spent four years working as a general practitioner at Equivet Equine Mobile services working with show jumpers and performance horses. He also worked as a researcher for the Health Department of Guatemala monitoring Rabies in dogs and cattle. Prior to his role in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Texas Tech, he completed an internship and a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Anesthesia at Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery (ESMS) in Weatherford, Texas under the mentorship of Dr. Laszlo Hunyadi, he was also a visiting Professor at his home School of Veterinary Medicine.

Luis will be teaching equine clinical and professional skills.

Luis is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), and a member of the Equitarian team with Fullbucket working with communities in need.
