Christy was born in Lovington, New Mexico. As a first-generation student, she attended Eastern New Mexico University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, she moved to Lubbock, Texas, and has called it home for the past 37 years.

Before marrying her husband, Deryl, Christy worked in various roles at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Her most recent position was being an Admissions Counselor for the School of Nursing. While raising their children, she returned to school to earn her teaching certification and went on to teach elementary math and science for 19 years.

Christy is passionate about helping others succeed and enjoys being around people, a value she has carried throughout her professional and personal life.

In her free time, Christy enjoys attending Texas Tech football games and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. She also loves traveling to visit her children in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Dallas, Texas. Christy cherishes spending quality time with her husband, family, and friends.
