Thomas Farrell brings a unique perspective to working with students, having experienced higher education at several different stages of life. Originally from the Chicago area, he began his professional career in the health and performance field, founding and operating an allied health and training business where he worked closely with clients through coaching, teaching, and long-term guidance.

Thomas later returned to school and discovered a passion for mathematics while studying at the University of Illinois at Chicago. A formative experience studying under Professor Kevin Whyte reshaped how he understood teaching and mentorship. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Mathematics from Texas Tech University, where he has also taught courses in calculus and statistics.

Thomas enjoys helping students navigate the complex intersection of academic demands, personal circumstances, and long-term goals. He values creating an environment where students can gain perspective, build confidence, and make thoughtful decisions about their future.

Outside of work, Thomas enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife Annie, his son Elias, their dog Montana, and their cats Kepler and Copernicus. He also enjoys staying physically active and exploring research questions in mathematics and complex systems.
