Texas Tech University's Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources is recognized as a center of excellence in teaching and learning. With 30 degree programs, highly qualified faculty and staff, and excellent facilities, Davis College provides students with a full range of academic resources and opportunities. In recognizing the strong efforts of the faculty and staff, Davis College and Texas Tech University offer a number of awards to honor that service and dedication.

During the spring semester, eight faculty and staff members are honored for service and support, which includes a plaque and a monetary award. The 2022 Davis College Award recipients included:

  • Davis College Teaching Award: Joey Young, Associate Professor (Department of Plant & Soil Science)
  • Davis College Research Award: Richard Stevens, Professor (Department of Natural Resources Management)
  • Davis College Service/Outreach Award: Muntazar Monsur, Assistant Professor (Department of Landscape Architecture)
  • Davis College Junior Faculty Award: Jamie Bologna Pavlik, Associate Professor (Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics)
  • Davis College Student Advising Award: Catherine Simpson, Assistant Professor (Department of Plant & Soil Science)
  • Davis College Instructor Award: Vikram Baliga, Lecturer/Greenhouse Manager (Department of Plant & Soil Science)
  • Davis College International Impact Award: Gad Perry, Professor (Department of Natural Resources Management)
  • Davis College Staff Award: Shelbey Havens, Assistant Director of Recruitment (Davis College Dean's Office)
  • Davis College Research Staff Award: Edward Carrasco, Swine Center Unit Manager (Department of Animal & Food Sciences)

Separately, recognition of current Davis College faculty for teaching, research and outreach excellence also comes from the university as a whole. In 2022, recognition of current Davis College faculty for teaching, research and outreach excellence included:

  • 13 members in the Teaching Academy
  • 18 recipients of the President's Excellence in Teaching Award
  • 16 New Faculty Award recipients
  • 6 recipients of the President's Academic Achievement Award
  • 2 recipients of the Spencer A. Wells Faculty Award
  • 4 recipients of the Chancellor's Distinguished Research Award
  • 2 recipients of the Departmental Excellence in Teaching Award presented by the Teaching Academy (Plant and Soil Science and Agricultural Education and Communications)
  • 3 Horn Professors
  • 3 Hemphill-Wells New Professor Excellence in Teaching Award recipients
  • 5 Barnie E. Rushing, Jr., Faculty Distinguished Research Award recipients
  • 5 recipients of the Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award
  • 6 recipients of the President's Excellence in Academic Advising Award
