Meet The Staff

Several changes in the administrative staff have occurred this spring.  First, the retirement of Lloyd Allred.  Second, the welcoming of Misty Rangel, the new unit manager, and the departure of James Lemon, IT Specialist.

Lloyd Allred, Unit Manager, Retires
Farewell to Lloyd

CMLL bids farewell to Lloyd as he enters retirement from Texas Tech.  Faculty, staff, friends and students recognized Lloyd's contributions to the department during his 10-year tenure as Unit Manager at a party on February 21 in the Qualia Room.
A note from Lloyd:

Hi, all,
By the time you read this, I will be fully retired and enjoying life.  My time at CMLL has been memorable and I count you all among my friends.  Many have come and gone, but all are stored in my memory.
During the 10 years I've been working here I have seen many changes and had a hand in making many of those changes happen, including remodeling many rooms, some more than once.  Though I know many more upgrades are coming, hopefully what has already been done has made your life better and more conducive to learning.

Lloyd fishing

It's hard to be specific on my plans for the future, but there will be a great number of projects around the house, yard and garden.  Many hobbies will get some attention, such as family history, ham radio and music.  Of course, I will be in my kayak on the lakes and hiking in the outdoors.  I will be searching for a publisher for a book I have written and, if successful, will continue working on several other book projects.

Allred Family

I plan to devote time to service to church and family.  With 14 grandchildren and one on the way, I will get many opportunities to share hugs, stories and play my harmonica for the little ones, and maybe older ones who don't mind harmonica music.
Fond memories will be a constant part of retirement as I reminisce about my time in CMLL and as I venture on to new experiences in this next phase of life.
Thanks for being a part of the adventure,
Lloyd

Misty Rangel, Unit Manager

Misty Rangel

Hi! My name is Misty Rangel. I have been with Texas Tech since 2010. I'm happily married to Joey Rangel and he works here on campus too. We have two boys, Joseph who is 19 and Joshua who is 16. I enjoy working out in the yard and spending time with my furbabies. I'm excited to get to work with and know all of you better.

James Lemon, IT Support Technician II

James Lemon

“After 11 years at CMLL, I have decided to take a position on the LTMS team at the University Library. I have worked with and gotten to know so many staff, faculty, and GPTIs over the years, and I want to thank each of you.”
CMLL would like to thank James for all his dedication and hard work during his tenure in CMLL, and to wish him all the best in his new role.
