Position Description Primary Focus: Data governance, predictive analytics, strategy, and policy. The Research Data Manager III serves as the principal data architect and strategic advisor for the department. This role is responsible for defining the Data Governance strategy - ensuring that data is secure, consistent, and usable across the organization. The Lead utilizes predictive analytics to forecast enrollment and retention trends and advises executive leadership on technology infrastructure and investments.
Essential Job Functions Strategic Data Governance (30%): Define and enforce data standards, dictionaries, and quality controls for the department. Establish protocols for data security and sharing across all vendors and partners. Audit data workflows to minimize risk and redundancy. Predictive Analytics & Modeling (25%): Utilize advanced statistical modeling to identify trends in student retention, enrollment, and success. Provide actionable, predictive insights to leadership to drive strategic planning and resource allocation. Technology Strategy & Vendor Management (25%): Evaluate the ROI of current and potential educational technologies. Lead the RFP (Request for Proposal) process for new data systems. Negotiate technical requirements with vendors and oversee high-level architecture decisions. Executive Reporting & Communication (20%): Present high-level findings to Deans, Provosts, and external partners. Translate technical data strategies into business value propositions. Lead cross-functional committees regarding institutional data effectiveness.
Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree + 10 years experience (OR Master's degree + 7 years). Required Skills: Expert-level knowledge of database architecture, statistical modeling, and data governance frameworks. Experience leading large-scale system migrations. Preferred: PhD in a quantitative field. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Data Governance certifications.
