Position Class Title Enterprise Systems Analyst V
Position Description The Enterprise Systems Analyst V's role is to serve as a principal enterprise systems expert and technical authority for enterprise system design, architecture implementation, planning, deployment, administration, and lifecycle governance of enterprise technology solutions. This position applies broad and substantive knowledge across multiple related IT disciplines and is expected to advance long-term enterprise goals, standards, and service strategies that may affect job families, institutional operations, and Texas Tech University System institutions. The position creates formal networks across technical, functional, and leadership groups; provides thought leadership for broader organization projects; and conveys advanced information to influence diverse stakeholders on matters of significant enterprise importance. The position addresses highly complex and uniquely challenging issues, may create new professional standards or innovations that benefit the institution, and operates with substantial autonomy on unit processes, enterprise strategy, and self-initiated initiatives. Enterprise positions are restricted for use in central IT Division areas reporting to the institutional CIO and, as such, may interface with key IT leadership and/or other functional leadership from the Texas Tech University System institutions.
Essential Job Functions Works independently and/or leads enterprise teams and cross-functional contributors to: Provide principal-level architectural design, development, testing, installation, deployment, maintenance, administration, and lifecycle governance for enterprise hardware, software, platforms, and integrated technology services. Perform advanced systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consultation with users, technical teams, functional leaders, and institutional stakeholders to determine hardware, software, security, integration, operational, or system functional specifications. Support enterprise hardware and software systems through system monitoring, problem diagnosis and resolution, configuration management, systems programming, systems integration, performance optimization, risk mitigation, and continuous service improvement. Manage and/or provide principal guidance for planning, implementation, deployment, modernization, resiliency, and administration for highly complex enterprise systems and/or data center infrastructure. Lead or advise enterprise system projects involving multiple areas, institutional partners, job families, and Texas Tech University System institutions. Establish, improve, and sustain enterprise standards, procedures, architectures, and operational practices that support long-term technology goals. Identify and resolve highly complex and uniquely challenging technical, operational, security, and integration issues with impact outside the immediate job area. Provide thought leadership, professional guidance, mentorship, task assignment, coordination, and technical direction to less experienced staff and project contributors. Create formal networks across technical, functional, security, governance, and leadership stakeholders to influence adoption of practices, standards, new concepts, and enterprise approaches. Assist senior departmental management with IT strategic planning, capital replacement planning, service roadmap development, risk assessment, and enterprise technology governance in support of institutional goals and initiatives. May interface with key IT leadership and/or other functional leadership from the Texas Tech University System institutions. Adheres to all appropriate institutional policies, including IT OPs, security standards, data governance requirements, and other relevant internal departmental policies.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus fourteen years related full-time paid experience OR a combination of related education and/or experience. Advanced degree, specialized technical training, or equivalent progressive enterprise systems experience may be considered when directly relevant to the assigned enterprise technology portfolio.

Principal-level analytical skills, including enterprise system analysis, process description, logic, problem diagnostics, root cause analysis, capacity planning, resiliency planning, technology roadmap development, and problem solving across multiple related disciplines. Demonstrated mastery with one or more enterprise class systems and/or systems platforms, including servers, virtualization, ERP applications and technologies, storage, messaging, communications, application servers, directory servers, identity platforms, integration services, automation, monitoring, and data center infrastructure. Demonstrated mastery in managing highly complex enterprise systems administration projects and multi-area technology initiatives. Demonstrated mastery implementing, improving, and governing industry standards relevant to data center operations, enterprise platforms, systems administration, cybersecurity, service management, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience. Ability to establish new procedures, standards, strategies, and innovations that benefit the institution; operate independently with limited supervision; pursue strategic initiatives; and provide technical direction, task coordination, formal networks, and thought leadership across the organization. Advanced training in systems analysis, design, architecture, administration, security, and enterprise service management through education and experience. Demonstrated mastery of security protocols related to area(s) of expertise. Preferred qualifications may include: advanced degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, cybersecurity, engineering, business administration, or a related field; substantial progressive experience supporting enterprise systems in a complex higher education, public sector, healthcare, research, or multi-institutional shared services environment; and demonstrated experience providing technical leadership for enterprise platforms, ERP/SIS technologies, cloud or hybrid infrastructure, virtualization, identity and access management, messaging and collaboration platforms, storage, backup/recovery, monitoring, automation, integration, data center operations, or enterprise security services. Beneficial certifications may include ITIL, PMP, PMI-ACP, TOGAF, CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, Microsoft Azure Administrator/Architect/Security/Identity credentials, Microsoft 365 Administrator or Security credentials, VMware VCP/VCAP, Red Hat/Linux, database administration, cloud architecture, or vendor-specific enterprise platform certifications appropriate to the assigned technology portfolio. Preferred knowledge, skills, and activities include experience developing enterprise standards, technology roadmaps, operational procedures, lifecycle plans, disaster recovery and business continuity plans, service management practices, security control alignment, risk assessments, cross-functional governance, stakeholder communications, technical documentation, vendor management, and mentoring or guiding technical contributors.
