Position Class Title	Sergeant
Position Description	Performs responsible supervisory and patrol work involving the security of University property or may be assigned specifically to detective investigative work. Usual duties involve the active supervision of the police personnel assigned to the Sergeant on a rotating shift. When specially assigned, a detective in this classification performs follow up investigations of crimes, presents crime prevention educational programs, and maintains contacts with other law enforcement, campus and community entities. Supervises varied security personnel.
Qualifications	Four years of experience a s commissioned peace officer with a satisfactory record of performance and be currently serving as a Senior Police Officer. Applicants must meet licensing standards for Texas Peace Officers as mandated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Internal candidates must have a letter of recommendation approved through their Division Captain.
