About Financial Aid

Studying abroad can be a life changing experience, and financial aid is available to assist you with the program costs involved in approved study abroad programs. Since the study abroad experience should be carefully planned, students should reach out to the Financial Aid office early in the process for guidance and support.  Below are a few relevant details to consider related to Financial Aid.

Financial Aid Quick Facts:

  • Students must complete the FAFSA for the term they're studying abroad in order to receive financial aid.
  • Students must be enrolled in coursework for credit to receive financial aid; shadowing programs and some internships won't be eligible for financial aid.
  • Students receiving federal financial aid should be aware that there are some restrictions on the number of semesters, or course credits, for study abroad that can be counted toward a degree program.
  • All study abroad students are required to have their refund setup through direct deposit with Student Business Services.
  • TTU Study Abroad does not have access to your financial records.  Please contact the Financial Aid office (806.742.3681) directly for more information and any financial aid questions.
    • Topics to discuss with the Financial Aid Office:
      • Additional financial aid and loan options
      • How current scholarships may apply to study abroad
      • How financial aid might work for a summer study abroad program
      • Where to view any financial awards already received
