Dominican Republic

Dr. Irma Almager leads a Maymester Study Abroad trip to Santiago, Dominican Republic. The students live with Dominican families during their stay, work daily in a bilingual school, attend an evening university course with local Dominican teachers and participate in excursions to the rain forest in Jarabacoa, the beaches in Puerto Plata, and local museums in Santiago.

• Daily opportunities to plan and teach content literacy lessons at the O&M Hostos School in Santiago, DR.
• Evening classes held at O&M University in Santiago, DR.
• Students live with Dominican families
• Afternoon excursions include tours of Monumento a los Heroes de la Restauracion, Centro Leon, and La Aurora Cigar Factory.
• Weekend excursions include trips to the Jarabacoa Rainforest and the beaches at Puerto Plata and Sosua.
