Copy of novel, $3 movie screening for reading group

"Mockingbird" readings

Copies of the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” will be available free for the first 40 participants who attend a series of entertaining reading group discussions on the literary classic. Alamo Drafthouse Cinema will host a $3 screening of the movie at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 for reading group participants.

The group discussions will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the following Monday nights:

  • Oct. 5, Texas Tech University Library Room 309
  • Oct. 12, Groves Branch of the Lubbock Public Library (5520 19th St.)
  • Oct. 19, Texas Tech University Library Room 309
  • October 26, movie screening of “To Kill a Mockingbird” starring Gregory Peck.

Participants will enjoy music, food and guest speakers discussing Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning and widely read novel on race relations in America.
