Course Reserves

Course Reserves are becoming Assigned & Optional Readings in Canvas! Embed the readings you already use into Canvas and link them within your modules.

Assigned & Optional Readings can include resources owned by the TTU Libraries like eBooks, journal articles, book chapters, and streaming media, as well as physical books, graphic novels, scores, and recordings, in addition to anything you can think of which can include blogs, videos, Open Educational Resources, playlists, reference websites, and more! You also have the flexibility to place personal copies on reserve, request that resources be purchased, and get help with accessibility, copyright permissions, and clean scans.

The best part? Course Reserve staff become your partner to make sure that links work, PDFs are readable, and access points haven’t changed. Reusing or revising a reading list can be done easily with just a couple of clicks, whether it is your first time teaching a course or your twentieth.

Start adding resources as soon as you know what you're teaching and have access to your Canvas shell to ensure access by the first day of class.

Add Assigned & Optional Readings to your course in Canvas.

1. Within a Canvas shell, find Settings in the lefthand menu.
2. In Settings, click Navigation.
3. Find Assigned & Optional Readings in the list at the bottom of the page.
4. Click the three dots next to Assigned & Optional Readings.
5. Click Enable.
6. Place Assigned & Optional Readings where you would like students to see it in your lefthand menu. We recommend under Modules.

Architecture Course Reserves

To submit course reserve materials for the Architecture Library, please contact libraries.architecture@ttu.edu to arrange for those materials to be placed on reserve at the Architecture Library.
