Recovering Classics

Flex your artistic muscles by recreating the cover art of a classic novel! These reimagined covers will be displayed in an exhibit Feb. 8, 2016, in the Texas Tech University Library.

Faculty, staff, students and members of the community are invited to submit works of art such as paintings, prints, sculptures, collages or other visual art. Artists may choose from 50 classic titles listed at recoveringtheclassics.com. Some of the titles include “The Jungle Book,” “Moby Dick,” “Pride and Prejudice” and “War and Peace.”

The book art exhibit gallery opening, slated at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in Library Room 309, will launch a Library book reading series focusing on the classic novel, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Discussions and guest speakers on that book will be featured at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 and Feb. 22 in Library Room 309. The series is sponsored by the Texas Tech Humanities Center and Texas Tech Libraries.

Deadline to submit art for exhibit consideration is 5 p.m. Feb. 5, 2016. Interested parties should send their art to Personal Librarian Cynthia Henry, cynthia.henry@ttu.edu at the University Libraries. Submissions must include the artist's name, contact phone number and email address.
