Tenure Review Calendar
This calendar is a simplified summary of the Promotion and Tenure review process for the Department of Plant and Soil Science at Texas Tech University. For a more detailed outline of the process, see the Promotion and Tenure Standards and Procedures document. There are also detailed flow charts linked in Semesters 6, 10, and 11 of this calendar.
* Faculty members who begin after November 1 of the previous year begin the promotion and tenure clock the following September *
Academic Year 1
Fall (Semester 1)

- Faculty member and Plant & Soil Science (PSS) chairperson identify faculty mentor
Spring (Semester 2)
February
- Faculty member discusses Third Year Review (TYR) committee with PSS chairperson at annual evaluation
April
- PSS chairperson submits TYR Committee Recommendation to Dean
Academic Year 2
Fall (Semester 3)

- Faculty member arranges TYR peer evaluation in classroom
Academic Year 3
Fall (Semester 5)
October
- Faculty member arranges dossier in Davis College Promotion and Tenure format
- Faculty member schedules evaluation by TYR committee
Spring (Semester 6)
January
- Evaluation by TYR committee
March
- Chairperson of TYR committee submits assessment to PSS chairperson
- PSS chairperson submits TYR documents to Davis College Dean
Academic Year 4

- Faculty member arranges TYR peer evaluation in classroom (if necessary)
