Hiring
There are important distinctions between the processes for hiring staff, visiting
scholars, and students. Make sure you're following the procedure that aligns with
the type of hire you're making:
Hiring Staff
As with everything else at Tech, bringing in a new staff member is a process. DO NOT
WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO CONTACT THE DEPARTMENT BUSINESS MANAGER (Lori Walraven) for the correct steps to follow.
Read the Staff Recruitment Process flowchart below to understand the distribution
of responsibilities for the Faculty Supervisor (you) and the Department Business Manager
(Lori Walraven) throughout the hiring process. Remember that you will need to provide:
All of the required interview feedback information for each candidate
A minimum of three references contacted for each candidate
As with everything else at Tech, bringing in a visiting scholar is a process. DO NOT
WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO CONTACT THE DEPARTMENT BUSINESS MANAGER (Lori Walraven) for the correct steps to follow.
Visiting Scholars (short term) to be paid from your funds:
These appointments will be considered a “Direct Hire” which requires prior approval
Contact the Department Business Manager (Lori Walraven) to begin this process
They will also need to check in with the Office of International Affairs at oia.immigration@ttu.edu
in order to update their paperwork
Visiting Scholars who will NOT be compensated during their time here at TTU:

Post-Hire Support
Hiring the right people is critically important, but so is setting them up for success
once they're here. TTU Human Resources provides the following suggested checklists and evaluation templates to help supervisors
and students navigate the employment process:
